Many lament of what became of Syd, but in my own opinion his mental and emotional state was not simply a disintegration. I seriously believe he was not where he wanted to be by 1968. He was not permitted to alter course due to the enormous reaction his musical work and presence had generation and the number of people who were now dependent upon it, not just him alone but the group he had founded.
